The Nintendo Direct from Tuesday was a big one! New Zelda information, a new Fire Emblem game and now an old school Harvest Moon game is getting a remake on the Nintendo Switch. The game originally released on the Gamecube and PS2 back in 2003 but is getting a remake for Nintendo's newest home console. It's getting a new name too, but we expected that. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will release on the Nintendo Switch sometime next Summer.
The game will, just like the other Harvest Moon remakes, most likely be a faitful adaptation of the original game. Perhaps some quality of life upgrades along with the graphical rehaul. The game will have a player character taking over land where their father always intended to start a farm. In the forgotten valley players will do what usually happens in these games. Start a farm, make friends, find a love interest and get rich.
Games like this are huge, especially now. Harvest Moon took the world by storm many years ago and is still popular to this day. Obviously, or they wouldn't keep remaking the games! Games like this are highly addictive, and have been in something of a renaissance since the incredibly Stardew Valley released years ago.
If you want to check the series out before then you can try the previous game. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town released on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. It too is a remake of a previously released Harvest Moon. It could give you a good idea of whether or not you'd enjoy this upcoming game too!
This wasn't the only farming game shown during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct though. Harvestella is an awesome looking game coming out from Square Enix. Fae Farm is another game in the same genre coming out in the future on the Switch.
Story of Season: A Wonderful Life will release sometime next Summer.
