Octopath Traveler 2
Octopath Traveler 2 Announced At Nintendo Direct!

Did you guys manage to catch the September 2022 Nintendo Direct? I missed it myself, but have spent most of the day catching up on all the exciting news! It's wild how many awesome things were announced, things I had never even expected! We got some news on the next Zelda game, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. A brand new Fire Emblem game was announced, Fire Emblem Engage. Now I just found out a sequel to Octopath Traveler was announced! Now that's good news if I've ever heard it!

Octopath Traveler came out back in 2018 and was rather well received. It wasn't a perfect game but for those old-school JRPG fans looking for a fix, boy did they ever find one. It was the first game to start using the HD-2D graphics the game is so well known for and that several other RPG's have adapted. Games like Live A Live and the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake both use these graphics. There was also a mobile game released earlier this year.

This new game, Octopath Traveler 2, is a full-blown sequel though! Along with the announcement we got a trailer for the game, which I'll share below!

So, the game will feature eight new heroes! It doesn't particularly look like it ties to the previous game, but I suppose that has yet to be determined. This is another surprise announcement with a release date that isn't that far! We'll be playing the new Octopath Traveler in just a few short months as the game releases early next year. It's shaping up to be a surprising year for JRPGs.

Would you like some more good news regarding the game? It's not going to be a Switch exclusive. I'm fairly certain that the original Octopath Traveler ended up on PC as well, and this one will too! But not only that, the game will also release on the PlayStation 5!

Octopath Traveler II drops on February 24, 2023!
