Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster
Happy Birthday Final Fantasy III, Here's To 32 More Years Of Final Fantasy!

Happy birthday Final Fantasy III! That's right, today is the 32nd anniversary of Final Fantasy III. That means that 32 years ago Final Fantasy III was released for the Famicom, also known as the Nintendo Entertainment System. Now, some of you may be thinking that's not right. That's because the game that was released in North America as Final Fantasy III on the SNES isn't actually Final Fantasy III. That was actually Final Fantasy VI. North America never received Final Fantasy III until a remake was released on the DS here in 2006. That was the first time Western Audiences for a look at Final Fantasy III. For the record, the Final Fantasy II we got here was also actually Final Fantasy IV.

Are you confused yet?

Honestly, none of that really matters. All you need to know is that today is Final Fantasy III's birthday, and to celebrate Square Enix has a poll going on in regards to the best airship! It's not a huge thing or anything, but it is a bit of fun. Final Fantasy III is definitely one of the more underappreciated titles. It's no one's favorite, as far as I can tell, and because it came to the West so late few people even know it. It doesn't help that the DS remake wasn't the best version of the game either. The game used 3D chibi models which just... come on, I love me some sprites!

Luckily, Square Enix has fixed that with their most recent release of the early Final Fantasy games. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are remakes of the original six games but with brand new graphics. The music's been reworked, there is some awesome quality of life changes, and barring a few balancing issues, the games are phenomenal. It's also the first time Western fans have been able to play Final Fantasy III with sprites.

Well, those who didn't emulate the game with English translation anyway.

Even though today is Final Fantasy III's birthday, Final Fantasy VI is getting all the press! Square Enix recently revealed a gorgeous but seriously overpriced Terra statue that retails for over $11,000. You can buy a used car with that amount of money, or maybe your very own set of Magitek Armour.

We should probably just let Final Fantasy III enjoy its special day though. If you want to play Final Fantasy III yourself to celebrate, both versions of the game are available on Steam!
