Final Fantasy VI Statue
This Final Fantasy VI Statue Is Gorgeous But Too Expensive

Square Enix may have officially lost their minds this time. Okay, it's probably not that dramatic, but they've gone and done something so crazy even the Final Fantasy creator is sitting there scratching his head. Some people may have already heard or seen the news: Square Enix is release a really awesome Final Fantasy statue featuring Terra from Final Fantasy VI. The statue is nothing short of breathtaking. Hell, it might be one of the best statues I've ever seen in my life. This Final Fantasy VI statue is $11,000. No, that's not a typo, if you want to add this awesome Terra statue to your collection you'll need to fork over $11,000. Take a moment and really think about what you could do with that much money.

Fans have gone online to express their... well, I wouldn't call it outrage but they have certainly been left incredulous. Here's a trailer, if you want a better, closer look at the statue in question.

When Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, saw the statue he actually tweeted asking if Square Enix was okay. He thought the price was a little high and went on to say that some of the incredible dioramas his company built for Fantasian didn't cost as much. Fantasian is his new JRPG that was released on IOS. A quick note: I don't speak nor read Japanese, but several sources have translated the tweets. I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Sakaguchi here, because that's an absurd price for a statue.

The Terra statue is part of the "masterline" series of figures from Square Enix. And, yes, the statue is a 1/6 recreation of the real thing so it's absolutely massive, but so is its price point. The Nier statues revealed previously from the same line of statues don't even compare to the Terra one. The most expensive statue from the Nier statues comes in at $3399. Yeah, that's really expensive too, but the Terra Branford statue is nearly four times more expensive than those.

It must be the moogles.

This isn't the only insane thing Square Enix has done recently though. They're also selling some Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary cups that cost about $600 each. Here's a picture of those, so that you can see that, while gorgeous, they don't seem to be worth the absurd asking price.

I'm not sure what Square Enix is thinking, and yes, I'm part of the problem. If I had that much money to blow you can bet I'd immediately pre-order that statue As it stands, at least I can enjoy the pictures of it.
