The Flash: Permanent Changes To Team Flash Coming In Season 8

The Flash has had an interesting season so far, to say the least. Doing something completely new for the Arrowverse, The Flash opening arc was something of an event. It wasn't a full crossover between all the shows, but it was like they did a crossover on only The Flash. After that... poof! The Flash vanished for a few months, but returned last week with a fun jump through time that didn't highlight Barry Allen (Grant Gustin)! Instead, we followed Nora and Bart Allen into something that was far more lighthearted. We should enjoy it while we can, since Eric Wallace, The Flash showrunner, there may be some permanent changes coming this season... especially since The Flash hasn't been renewed for season nine yet!

That's right, though nothing is confirmed as of publishing this article this could be the last season of The Flash! If this does happen to be the end, at least we know Barry got eight seasons of awesome adventures. It has been previously revealed that this season's finale works as a series finale too. Y'know, just in case The Flash really does get canceled. I'd be sad to see the series go, but at least the showrunners are prepared. What about these permanent changes though? What did Eric Wallace have to say about that? Well, quite a bit it turns out! He spilled all the secrets to TV Insider, where he had this to say.

"We will explore that and resolve that throughout the remainder of the season, but always we're sticking with our graphic novel format. So, 'Armageddon' was the first graphic novel of Season 8, then we have our first interlude episode as we like to call them—those are episodes that are more standalone, and we'll have a couple of those. And then our next graphic novel will kick in at the middle of the season with an all new Big Bad. And there will actually be another one at the end of the season. We're gonna try something new this year with three graphic novels. We're gonna see how much action we can pack into Season 8. It's going to be a very wild ride, but I gotta warn folks that what is coming emotionally is gonna change Team Flash permanently. And I'm not kidding around."

Whether or not this is good or bad we can't tell yet, but it sounds like we should be expecting the unexpected. This isn't the only interesting The Flash news we've heard lately! Apparently, some characters who haven't been on in a while will return at some point this year! We have some surprise ones coming up, but we also know that Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) is coming back too, after his appearance recently!

You can catch The Flash, if you are fast enough, on The CW on Wednesday nights!
