Sora super smash bros ultimate
Sora is the Final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character

Sora is the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character! It has been speculated for some time, and lots of fans even guessed it right! As a huge Kingdom Hearts fan myself, I'm ecstatic. I reacted the same way when Sephiroth was announced too. JRPG's got a huge amount of representation in Super Smash Bros. this time. Sora deserves his spot in Smash in my opinion, regardless of what the haters are saying. Because yes, there are always haters. It seems less directed at Sora and more to the characters chosen in general. See, it was a lot of sword-wielding Japanese characters, and people wanted something different. I don't blame them, but as I said above, as a huge Sora fan I'm hyped!

Sora was revealed early on Tuesday morning during a special event where Sakurai introduced the character. Sakurai also hung up a ton of Sora posters behind him, which is definitely going to become a meme. I know it, you know and Sakurai probably knows it too. During the presentation, he released a trailer for Sora, showed some gameplay and the costumes, and revealed an interesting piece of information. Years ago, they did a poll for characters people would want in Smash, and Sora won. Now that's come full circle, and Sakurai has admitted it took a lot of work to get Sora into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This man has put in countless hours to make this game as successful as it's been. I hope Sakurai gets the rest he deserves.

As for Sora though, they put a little extra work into him! He has costumes from across the Kingdom Hearts franchise. That's right, instead of simple color variations every single one of Sora's "colors" is a different costume. The most interesting one is the Timeless River costume. This one comes from Kingdom Hearts II, when Sora visited the old black and white Mickey Mouse world. Steamboat Willie was included.

Though Sora will undoubtedly disappoint some fans, we should still be celebrating. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has come a long way. It really is one of the most ambitious crossover events in gaming, and I'm happy with where we're leaving Ultimate. Hopefully, the next Super Smash Bros. is as lovingly crafted as this one was, even if Sakurai isn't involved.
