The New Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Reveals Returning Features

There's a new Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl trailer which reveals a bunch of returning features for the Gen IV remakes! The Diamond and Pearl remakes are something Pokémon fans have been wanting for a long time now, and this November their dreams finally come true. We'll be revisiting the Sinnoh region, except this time we're exploring it on the Nintendo Switch! We're a little over a month until the game comes out, and GameFreak and Nintendo have seen fit to release a new trailer! It doesn't reveal a ton of new features, but it does show off a bunch of returning ones. Some of them are even better than before, too!

So, the first thing is the Pokétch is returning! The Pokétch was essentially the bottom screen on the original Nintendo DS games. It could do all kinds of things, from check your Pokémons health, to counting your steps and various other uses. The Pokétch is returning in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and it looks like all of its uses are intact. In fact, there's even an extra one, we learned from the trailer.

Diamond and Pearl still used HM's, moves that affect the game outside of battle. They have been around since the very first Pokémon games in Red and Blue. They've been gone or altered, for some time and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are not bringing them back.  I don't think we'll see anyone too upset about that, though. Instead of HM's you can use those moves you need directly from the Pokétch. It will summon a wild Pokémon to use the move for you, which isn't just nifty but incredibly cute.

Amity Park is back in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It's also where you'll be making your poffins, which return from the original games as well. You'll be able to make poffins all by yourself, and then use them to increase your Pokémon's stats. Not their battle stats, but instead poffins are used to alter their stats for the contests found throughout Sinnoh.

All of this will be going down in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl when they release on November 19 for the Nintendo Switch.
