Mario Strikers: Battle League
Mario Strikes: Battle League Releasing on June 10

The last time we had a Mario Strikers game it was on the Nintendo Wii. That was all the way back in 2007, so it's been more than 10 years since fans have seen a new Mario Soccer game released. That's really too bad since the games are fantastic. The first Mario Strikers game, in particular, is really something special. It's a fan favorite and still has tons of people who swear by it in 2022. Well, the wait is over soccer fans! During the most recent Nintendo Direct on Wednesday Nintendo announced there was a new Mario Strikers game on the way! Mario Strikers: Battle League is coming to the Nintendo Switch on June 10! That's only four months away, so the wait isn't even that long! That's great news!

Nintendo even released a trailer for Mario Strikers: Battle League that Tengen from Demon Slayer would be proud of.

So, for those who aren't familiar with the series... It's a 5v5 sports game. The difference between this and something like Fifa should be pretty obvious. In Fifa, you play as boring real people with realistic Soccer. In Mario Strikers you create a team of five Mario characters, or at least Nintendo Characters if you count Donkey Kong, and you have all kinds of special abilities. The game is meant to be super flashy and all the Mario Strikers titles have delivered on that front. This one specifically will have some special moves and even have an eight-player co-op. Local co-op. Way to go Nintendo! Let's hope it doesn't bring the frame rate to a screeching halt, though. If it doesn't this could be an amazing multiplayer game for the Nintendo Switch.

There's also a gear system that blows Marvel's Avengers gear system out of the water! Sorry Cap, it's just how it goes. In Mario Strikers you'll unlock gear that doesn't just affect your stats, but change your appearance too! There's all that other stuff you'd expect too, of course. Online Multiplayer is a thing. Hopefully, it works and doesn't... well, not work. There's also something called clubs which involves groups of 20 players working together towards something.

Are you stoked for the new Mario Strikers game? Let me know on the Multiversal News socials! There are links to them at the bottom of this page! I'm very active there too, for conversations.

Mario Strikers: Battle League will score on the Nintendo Switch on June 10.
