Batgirl Leslie Grace
Batgirl Film Canceled - #SaveBatgirl Trends Immediately

Batgirl, a film a lot of DC fans were really looking forward to, has been cancelled. The information comes courtesy of The Wrap, who originally broke the news. This is devastating for fans who were excited to see a live-adaptation of Barbara Gordon. Let's not forget Michael Keaton's Batman returning for this film as well. As you might expect, DC fans weren't happy and took their rage to Twitter and it didn't take long for them to have #SaveBatgirl trending.

According to the report from The Wrap the budget of the film rose to $90 million, and since DC doesn't want to put the film in theaters they decided to just shelf it instead. The only good news is that, apparently, DC is planning to work with Leslie Grace, the star, and directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi. You'd think they would just release it on HBO Max since it's almost done.

Yeah, that's not enough for pissed off DC fans though.

Here are just some of the responses you can find on Twitter of unhappy DC fans.

It's not just fans who will be unhappy. No doubt Grace and the directors of the film won't exactly be excited either. It was just earlier this year, while speaking with Variety, that Grace discussed the role.

"She definitely exceeds what I thought. I had to summon up some things in me that I didn't even know were there. It was an incredible learning experience to be on set with also action veterans like Brendan Fraser, and soak up it all up. It was so hard because he's our villain and I'm not supposed to like but he's such a huge teddy bear. He is one of the nicest people that I've ever met. In our fight sequences the way he would just hit marks, it came from all of his experience. You can't improvise that kind of experience. There's some crazy stuff that happens. There's lots of fire because as everyone knows by now, he plays Firefly. There's crazy fire. There's crazy stunts, crazy drops. She's a biker chick, so you're going to see her do a bunch of badassery." Adding afterwards, Oh my god, there were a lot of night shoots. There were a lot of long days, but it was so worth it. But, oh my gosh, never in my life have I've been so sore or depleted. There were some days I would get home and I would think, 'Do I want to eat or am I just going to fall asleep?'"

If you were looking forward to Batgirl, I'm sorry.

Batgirl is scheduled to be released... never.
