Kaguya and Cousin
Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War Season 3 Introduces A New Character Related To Kaguya!

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War has had a rather fun third season so far. It's also the first season where I feel like we might actually get some progress in getting Shirogane and Kaguya to finally confess their feelings for each other. The last two episodes had me rolling on the ground laughing, and though the third episode of the season was good it was in a different way. It didn't have me guffawing as loud as I can, but it did introduce a new character. Whether or not this character becomes a major player this season, and going forward, is currently unknown but... we can hope! What's so interesting about this character? The fact that she's related to Kaguya! Say hello to Maki Shijo, Kaguya Shirogane's second cousin twice removed.

Shirogane and Ishigami come across her while they're walking around and they find her, literally, laying on the ground outside. They initially don't notice her... that is, until the president steps on her head. They decide to take her back to the student council room where they ask what the heck she was doing on the ground like that, and that's where things get a little messy. Do you remember the couple that Kaguya and Shirogane have helped several times throughout the series? Well, turns out Maki has a crush on that guy and is determined to, wait for it... get him to confess to her.

Shirogane even mentions how familiar her words sound, which was a great moment.

After hearing the situation from her, the three end up talking for a while. There's no denying the similarities between Maki and Kaguya, both switching between a more intense and cute demeanor at the drop of a hat. Shirogane even makes a passing comment about how cute she is! Though she denies having any feelings for that man, she at least confesses to hating a certain someone... the person who taught him that wall slam move. It's a good thing she doesn't seem to realize that person is none other than Shirogane himself! By the time everything is said and done she even enlists Ishigami and Shirogane into helping her get the boy, though that will be waiting until a later date.

We do get a very brief scene between her and Kaguya where there's some definite hostility there. Hopefully Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War season 3 ends up explaining what has the two so hostile in the first place. Could it have something to do with Kaguya referring to her family as a branch family? Hopefully, we find out sooner rather than later!

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- can be caught on Crunchyroll on Fridays, as well as on Funimation.
