Heads definitely turned when this game was announced back at E3 of 2021. Though, it wasn't a complete surprise since the game was actually leaked a little while before E3 actually happened. Now, we've got an update on the game during the Tokyo Game Show 2021. We got a new trailer that gives us a fresh look at the game and official release date. Thankfully, this trailer turns down the "KILL CHAOS" aspect and gives us a much better look at the game. It also introduces the fourth party member, the only female, which is awesome! I strongly suspected she's modeled off of a white mage. That's not all though, we also learned that the main character listens to Limp Bizkit, which is apparently a thing. Still, I'm more excited than ever to check out the game this March. Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is certainly going to be something to talk about when it releases.
There's a lot to unpack in the trailer, but it looks like Team Ninja and Square are putting a lot of work into this game. With that being said, a lot of people still aren't fully on board with the game, and that's okay. To be honest, the whole thing is a little strange but that doesn't mean the game will be bad. If anything it's a really interesting way to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise. Revisiting the first game is an awesome idea, especially with this twist they're putting on it. I mean, the original will always be there. In fact, there is a pretty awesome pixel remaster that was just released on PC and mobile recently.
Square spoke during TGS about the game, saying it's not really a remake. It's more of a reimagining and I'm left comparing it to the Final Fantasy VII Remake. This game is going to pull a lot of elements from the story of the original Final Fantasy, just with a lot more Limp Bizkit. If you're curious about the game, a second demo was released earlier in the week, and Square took a lot of the comments from the previous demo and made this one better.
