Ms. Marvel: Iman Vellani On Balancing The Superhero Stuff With Teenage Angst

Have you seen the first episode of Ms. Marvel yet? If not you absolutely should. It's the most fun the MCU has been in a long while - especially after how dark Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness was. Ms. Marvel is the complete opposite. It's whimsical and fun and Iman Vellani is the perfect Kamala Khan for the MCU. I'm incredibly excited to see where the show takes us weekly. I'm also excited to see Iman Vellani pop up in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson. For now, though, Vellani is answering all kinds of questions about Ms. Marvel, so it's been fun to go through those.

One of Vellani's most recent interviews was with Entertainment Weekly. She answered a ton of different questions about Ms. Marvel and you can tell how passionate she is about the series. From the way she was fangirling over the creator of Kamala Khan to discussing what she loves most about the character. She also talked about balancing the big superhero moments with the teenage angst - of which there's a lot of! She'd done a pretty good job though if you ask me.

Here's what she told Entertainment Weekly.

"Honestly, I was quite reliant on our directors. Life is not all just rom-com-y. There's a lot of ups and downs, especially when you're a teenager. I think when you're in high school, you just feel things so intensely. All your emotions are so heightened: your crushes, your friendships, minor inconveniences. They just feel like the end of the world. So, we wanted to channel all of those things that come with coming of age. Plus, I just lived it! I was 17 when I got cast. The character was 16. So, I was just learning from my own experiences and projecting that onto Kamala."

Ms. Marvel currently airs on Wednesdays only on Disney+. You can check out episode 1 right now!
