The Flash Finale Barry And Iris Kiss
Iris Has a Huge Storyline in The Flash Season Eight

The Flash will be back in, well... a flash. The season eight premiere is set to air this fall, and The Flash season eight is opening this year in a big way! The first five episodes of The Flash season eight will be a huge crossover-style story called Armageddon. Armageddon will be bringing back a ton of Arrowverse heroes, including some whose shows have ended already. We also just learned that Iris (Candice Patton) will have a huge storyline in The Flash season eight, but we'll have to wait a while to see it play out. The mystery of Iris' time sickness won't be dealt with until after Armageddon, according to The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace. It seems like Iris' time sickness is something we'll see health with throughout the entire eighth season of the show.

"Iris' time sickness gets dealt with after 'Armageddon'. Solving Iris' time sickness is a huge, huge part of the entire season, and it will take all season to solve that. And that will have big ramifications for Barry and Iris's relationship and marriage." Wallace said to TVLine in a recent interview.

It might be for the best if the Iris storyline happens later on. With how much it sounds like will be going on in Armageddon, it would be pretty sad to see the event bogged down with an unnecessary plotline. It's probably the better move to focus on Armageddon and deal with the whole Iris time sickness stuff afterward. Obviously, I'm not the only one who thinks this since that's exactly what The Flash season 8 will be doing.

The Armageddon synopsis reads

A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton), and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.

In a statement, Wallace talked a little about what we can expect from these episodes, too!

"Simply put, these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever. Plus, there are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans. And we're doing them on a scale that's bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, 'Armageddon' is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It's going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can't wait for audiences to see what we've got planned."

I'm most excited for the return of the Reverse-Flash myself.

Do you have any theories on Iris' mysterious illness? Do you think she might be getting superpowers of her own? That would definitely help her stand out a little more, but we'll find out when The Flash returns for its eighth season.

The Flash is back on November 16!
