Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Streaming Coming On June 16

It has officially been 25 years since Final Fantasy VII was released, and we're ready to celebrate, baby! Well, turns out that Square Enix is ready to celebrate too. That's why they've got a short live stream next week with some updates on Final Fantasy VII as a whole. Now, we're not exactly sure what to expect, but I can certainly tell you what fans want to see. The most obvious answer is an update on the Final Fantasy VII Remake. The first part has been out for a long time now, and fans are wondering what's going on with part 2. This live stream is the perfect opportunity to give us an update on the Remake. I guess we'll find out on June 16. The stream will be available on both the Square Enix Twitch and Youtube accounts. I know I'll be tuning in and hope all the FFVII fans who read this do too!

With all that out of the way let's talk about what else we might see at the event!

Well, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier could have some content announced for it. For those who aren't aware this game is a mobile battle royale title where you play as a Soldier, one you create yourself. I'm not the biggest fan of battle royales but as far as they go this one is pretty good. It's currently in its third season of content and shows no signs of slowing down. It gets regular updates and cool cosmetics to unlock. One thing that fans are hoping for is a console port of the game. This live stream is a perfect time to announce that, assuming Square Enix is interested in porting it at all!

There's another Final Fantasy VII project we haven't heard from in a while. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis was announced in February of last year and since then updates have been scarce. Tetsuya Nomura described the game as an alternate remake of Final Fantasy VII. This one is going to be closer to the original game though will include loot boxes in some capacity. We've heard of costumes and weapons being distributed through them, but other than that little is known. The game will feature content from across the entire Final Fantasy VII franchise including Advent Children, the sequel film of the series, and Crisis Core a prequel that focused on Zack Fair. Again, with how long it's been we'll probably get an update.

Beyond that, it's anyone's guess what we might see. I'm hoping for Remake news like everyone else, but also know that Square Enix can occasionally take their time with this kind of information. If anything, I'm confident we won't be getting the next part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake before the newest game, Final Fantasy XVI, releases next summer.

If you want to check out the Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary stream make sure you check out Square's Twitch or Youtube channels. It takes place on June 16 at 3pm Pacific / 6pm Eastern / 11pm UK (so June 17 at 9am AEDT). All Square had to say about the event is that we'll get "a first look at all the information surrounding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7".
