Island Sanctuary FFXIV
Final Fantasy 14: Square Reveals Island Sanctuary Screenshots

Final Fantasy 14 has another big patch coming out in just a matter of weeks, that being patch 6.2. The patch is being called Buried Memory and already has FFXIV addicts ready to go. Amidst all the new fights and difficult content, there's one piece of content sticking out more than most, though. I'm talking, of course, about the Island Sanctuaries.

Before we get too much into the Island Sanctuaries, let me explain why players are so excited! If you don't play Final Fantasy 14 yourself you might not know the game has a housing crisis. There just aren't enough houses for players. It doesn't help that a ton of players abuse the housing system, too. I've heard rumors of people buying out entire neighborhoods, which is just trash. Unfortunately, it seems like that won't be fixed anytime soon. That's where Island Sanctuaries come in.

Island Sanctuaries are essentially private houses, but in their own instanced zones. At least, that's how I understood them. You'll be able to do some farming, building and you can even invite your friends just to hang out. It seems like it might be a great alternative if you're still waiting around for a private house.

Square Enix released a couple of screenshots for the content, both of which are right here in the article. They're very pretty, but they don't reveal that much. I'm sad to say, that's more or less all we know. The content was described as "relaxing solo content" so you probably won't find any hardcore grinding here, if that's what you were hoping for.

One piece of good news is you don't need to have any of your crafters or gatherers leveled up. You'll even be able to care for small creatures, according to the Letter From The Producer that previously aired.

If you're hungry for more information on the Island Sanctuaries you probably won't have to wait very long. The next Letter From The Producer stream is set for August 12th, 2022. That's in only six days, for my mathematically impaired friends!

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available on PC and Playstation. Patch 6.2 Buried Memory is releasing later in August.
