Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Coming To North America For First Time

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is coming to North America for the first time ever! This is one most horror fans are sad we never got. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse came out for the Nintendo Wii all the way back in 2008. The game didn't sell very well but was critically successful. It got pretty excellent review scores all around. If there was a sad part to all this it would be that the game remained exclusive to Japan, so most people outside of there never got to play it. That's all changing thanks to the remaster of the game announced during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct.

There was a trailer for this remaster which you can check out below.

The Fatal Frame series is a Japanese horror series in which you use a camera to defeat ghosts. You gotta take pictures of them with a special camera, or you're toast. It's a series I've always intended on checking out but haven't had the pleasure yet.

In this particular entry you play as amnesiac Ruka Minazuki who has gone to Rougetsu Island to try and regain her memories. The game will feature some sort of sacrifical rituals for sure, it's kind of a series tradition.

Since the game was originally a Wii game, they might need to do something about the motion controls. Sure, it's all well and fine if you're playing a regular Nintendo Switch but if you have a lite, well... you might be screwed. As of writing this article no information has been given on the control scheme for the game.

And hey, you don't even need a Nintendo Switch to play it! It's coming out on the Switch of course, but it is also releasing on the PlayStation 4. PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is releasing in early 2023.
